Dr Tate Morris

DVM Dip ACVS

Specialist Equine Surgeon and Racetrack Veterinarian

Tate grew up farming and fishing on the northeast coast of the USA. After completing a degree in Entrepreneurship at the University of Vermont followed by a few years working on ranches in the western mountains of USA, he realised his true passion lay in veterinary medicine and he enrolled in the College of Veterinary Medicine at Cornell University where he received his Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM).

After graduating, he interned at the then Randwick Equine Centre before returning to the states to train with some of the premier names in the equine veterinary circles at Rood & Riddle, Cornell Ruffian Equine Specialists (CRES), and the University of Pennsylvania’s New Bolton Centre (NBC). He continued to work at CRES and NBC post-surgical residency and since achieving board certification with the American College of Veterinary Surgeons (ACVS). Tate is a well-rounded practitioner, with interests in orthopaedic and soft tissue surgeries of both the elective and emergent variety. He is fascinated by ways to incorporate advanced imaging into injury prevention as well as new techniques to control pain with multiple publications in peer-reviewed veterinary journals.

Tate spends most mornings at the racetrack with afternoons in the hospital in Horsley Park and is passionate about following cases from the track to the operating theatre and back.
