Dr Josette Fretton

BSc DVM (Distn) MANZCVS

Surgery (Resident)

Josette grew up on a small farm near Albany, Western Australia and has been involved with horses since a young age. After studying veterinary medicine at Murdoch University, she graduated in 2018 with a distinction before undertaking an internship at a private equine hospital in Perth.

Josette remained at the same practice as an associate in an ambulatory and anaesthesia role where she fostered her interest in equine surgery.  This prompted her to sit (and pass) the ANZCVS Membership exams in Equine Surgery and received the Scone Equine Group Prize in 2022.

More recently in 2023 Josette relocated to NSW to commence a surgical residency run in collaboration between REC Equine Specialists and Charles Sturt University in Wagga Wagga. During her time with us, Josette hopes to gain experience and exposure to all aspects of equine surgery, but she particularly enjoys emergency cases and colic surgery.
